Spacing Your Light Fixtures Depending on the length and width of your garden walkway, ideally, it is best to locate Your lighting fixtures 4 to 5 ft apart. This should give sufficient coverage and illumination For most garden paths but reduce this to 3 to 4 ft apart or less, for shorter pathways or walkway. Decide on what you want to achieve.. with your lighting layout. By this I mean that some folk want to just have the lighting fixtures there more or less for show purposes only, to perhaps create a subtle ambience. Some folk want to cover the safety and security aspect and aren`t too worried about attractiveness, although you will want your lighting fixtures to look nice they will also need to serve the purpose they were put there to do.
