Recessed Lighting Tips, Important Recessed Lighting Layout Facts
Recessed Lighting Tips, whether you are looking for information on Recessed Lighting Design, Square Recessed Lighting, Eyeball Lighting or Recessed Floor Lighting, Recessed Lighting Spacing or anything related following is some basic free tips to help you choose the best ones for you and the Lighting Design for your beautiful home. Recessed Lighting Tips "Basic Components" The basic parts of Recessed Lighting is the Housing and the Trim but a very important additional component is the humble “Light Bulb.” Incandescent Light Bulbs are usually the norm with this type of lighting but very popular nowadays is Low Voltage Halogen Light Bulbs which emit a bright natural light. These are very good but the ones I prefer and recommend are Led Light Bulbs. See how in the photo below one of the Recessed Lighting fixtures is positioned on the ceiling close to one of the kitchen cupboards, just above the sink, so that the owner can work in a comfortable light at night. The light beam also illuminates very nicely the small cupboard thus providing a dual purpose role. (Task Lighting as well as being aesthetically pleasing).

Recessed Lighting Tips and "Led Light Bulbs"
The reasons why I prefer Led Bulbs is because they have a very long life, the light they emit is equally as good as other light bulb types and they are known for there great durability. Proof of this is that Led Light Bulbs can be found in all manner of electrical implements and appliances, from Washing Machines, to Clock Radios to Automobile Lights… the list is almost endless. Also in Recessed Lighting:-). Recessed Lighting Tips "Comparing Led`s To Other Light Bulbs" Although it is true, when you compare the price of Led Bulbs with other types they might seem a little pricey. Please bear in mind that they can last for 11 years or more being on 24 hours a day and use a limited amount of energy which is quite remarkable I think you will agree. Another good thing about them is that unlike Halogen Light Bulbs they are not prone to over-heating and remain quite cool under working conditions when you consider they are a Light Bulb:-). Again, this is why they can be found in many everyday electrical devices and appliances which is proof of their performance and quality. Recessed Lighting Tips and "Adjustable Recessed Lighting" Adjustable Recessed Lights (or Eyeballs) as the name suggests are the type that you can adjust by hand so that the light beam focuses on a desired area of the room or spot. This could be something like a statue, a portrait or something similar that you wish to highlight and illuminate in the room. Recessed Lighting is particularly good to use as task lighting for this purpose. I highly recommend this type. Fixed Recessed Lighting does a great job don`t get me wrong but the adjustable version goes one step further I think you will agree and gives you that extra edge and much needed versatility. This is a very neat one where Recessed Lighting Tips are concerned. In the second photo below Recessed Lighting is used in a very tastefully decorated Living Room. The lights are fairly small but I think you will agree look very appealing and are very in keeping with the décor of the room.

Recessed Lighting Tips and "The Trim"
The trim is really the only thing that you will need to consider when it comes to matching your Recessed Lights with the décor of your room. A plus-point is that the Trim is very neat and small in size in most instances so the Trim Finish that you opt for should complement most decors in most homes. Another major plus-point is that there is a multitude of finishes available today unlike not too long ago when your basic Gold, Silver, Brass or Bronze were the only real options. This applies to both Round and Square Recessed Lighting alike. Recessed Lighting Tips and "Recessed Lighting Layout" When deciding on the layout that you wish your Recessed Lighting and Recessed Lighting Spacing to take, use a pencil or pen, and paper, and draw a scaled down drawing of your room. Depending on the size of your room, below, is a general guide with regard to how far apart each of your Recessed Lighting Fixtures should be spaced. - 3” Fixtures: Space them at: 3 ft intervals
- 4” Fixtures: Space them at: 4 ft intervals
- 5” Fixtures: Space them at: 5 ft intervals
- 6” Fixtures: Space them at: 6 ft intervals
Once again a factor in how far to space them apart will be size of your room and also the shape so please take this into account when drawing up your Lighting Plan. If you are in any doubt do try to get a second opinion as I have found that two heads are usually better than one when it comes to Lighting Layout Plans:-). Usually the other person sees something you have`nt noticed, or vice-versa. In the final photograph below larger Recessed Ceiling Lighting is used and also looks very tasteful. These sized fixtures look better in bigger rooms where space is plentiful but once again there are no set rules about how big each of the individual Recessed Lights should be just let your create juices flow and I am sure you will be delighted with the completed job:-).

Dimmer Switches
A Dimmer Switch allows one to lower or raise the level of light emitted from a Light Fixture usually form a switch or wheel located on the wall. These are terrific for conserving energy and saving money on lighting/energy bills. If you already have a Dimmer Switch fitted do make sure that the Recessed Lighting you purchase is compatible and work with the Dimmer Switch. Your lighting store will be able to advise you on this. Dimmer Switches by the way, are excellent for setting a certain “Ambience” or Level of Light in a room depending on the Mood or “Atmosphere” you want to achieve and come higlhly recommended.
