Recessed Lighting Layout, Various Design Types In This Subtle Lighting Fixture.

Recessed Lighting Layout using fixtures such as Square Recessed Lighting or Recessed Track Lighting are a really first class way of bringing a subtle “Style” to your Modern Home Lighting Design.

In the excellent Photo Below see how the owner uses his artistic license excellently by combining a smaller Recessed Light near to the corner of the ceiling with a larger one going towards the centre.

How Does It Work?

“Recessed” meaning “Set-into” is a Lighting Fixture that is embedded into a ceiling or wall. Usually they are flush with the ceiling or wall they are installed in. Recessed Lighting Layout is ideal for places where height and space is limited, such as if the room you are locating them in has low ceiling height.. but as mentioned they are also excellent for installing into walls.

Available Sizes and Trims?

The size range for these fixtures is usually between 4 – 8 inches and the trims come in Gold, Silver, Bronze and a few other colours but my personal preference is Silver as they are more contemporary looking and blend in nicely with most decors..

The Photograph Below shows how one can use Recessed Lighting in such a way to bring a whole new dimension to ones kitchen. This could quite easily be applied to any other ceiling in the home of course but Recessed Lighting Layout will work very well in the kitchen area of the home because the kitchen is one room where adequate light and illumination is needed and this kind of layout is a very good way to achieve this.

Recessed Lighting Design

Recessed Lighting Design in the first instance comes down to the actual shape of the fixture itself. Circular is the most common shape that they come in but Square and even Triangular are two others.

The fixtures concerned also come in what is known as Eyeball Lighting which you can move and direct towards a subject or object such as to wash over a painting or statue etc and illuminate the subject matter to great effect.

Recessed Floor Lighting

Recessed Floor Lighting (as the name suggests) is designed to be installed into the floor and the light beam emitted directs upwards. A Receesed Lighting Layout looks really great set against the back drop of a wall so that the light washes upwards and outwards highlighting the wall and anything that might be on it to superb effect.

Recessed Ceiling Lighting

Recessed Ceiling Lighting is great when installed in conjunction with a nice Crystal Chandelier. A good tip for working out how far to place your recessed lights apart is by using the following formula: 4” diameter fixtures = spaced at 3ft intervals; 6” diameter fixtures = spaced at 4ft intervals and 8” fixtures = spaced at 5ft intervals.

Outdoor Recessed Lighting

Outdoor Recessed Lighting and the obvious place when I think of a good location for this type of fixture is tucked away under a porch away from the extremities of the weather so as to extend and prolong their lifetime. Led bulbs are the best light bulbs to use as they are extremely durable, long lasting, and kind to the environment so Recessed Led Lighting is a sure fire bet.

Recessed Lighting Tips

Recessed Lighting Tips with advice about Recessed Lighting Spacing and other related subjects can be found on this page. Bulb type recommendations and detailed photographs can be found here.

Recessed Lighting Spacing

Recessed Lighting Spacing is not too diffficult a task so long as you take the time to plan carefully (a) the amount of Recessed Lights you will need and (b)what purpose the will be used for. This might sound a bit of a daft question but all will be revealed..

Stair Lighting

Stair Lighting a form of Recessed Lighting, is now a fashionable addition to most modern homes. Stairways can be a hazardous place so adequate illumination is a must.

Recessed Led Lighting

Recessed Led Lighting is excellent for where ceilings are very low where perhaps a traditional lighting fixture such as a chandelier would be out of the question. The bulb type (LED) are one of the most durable and safe bulbs on the market which makes this particular recessed lighting fixture one of the best there is.

See how in the delightful Photograph Below the owner has installed a large fixture in the centre of the ceiling and has located smaller ones around the outer edges giving a lovely overall look adding balance to the room. This ceiling does`nt appear to look particularly low but this would be an excellent reason for using this layout if it was.

Installing Recessed Lighting is not too difficult a task but as with all Lighting Fixtures we do highly recommend that you use a qualified electrician when it comes to installing any kind of lighting.

If you are going to go down the Diy Recessed Lighting “route” and want to install your Recessed Lighting Layout yourself please read the instructions you will receive with your fixture(s) very carefully and only undertake the task at hand if you are absolutely 100% certain that you can manage to complete it carefully and safely.
