Outdoor Pendant Lighting, Delightful Lighting Fixtures, Stylish and Cute.

Outdoor Pendant Lighting examples of which are Mini Pendant Lighting, Porch Lighting, and Hanging Lighting Fixtures to name but a few are a superb way of bringing a glamorous, stylish touch to your home and exterior.

Pendant Lighting, whether it be the Outdoor or Indoor variety for that matter are simply lights that hang from a single chain or metal rod. Although the chains and rods themselves come in different styles and finishes the main variant from model to model is the heads.

In the photograph below you will see a fairly unusual example of Outdoor-Pendant-Lighting although it must be said they come in quite a vast range of shapes, styles and colors, this one being no exception. As you can see it is a really nice fixture and would grace the best of homes and their exteriors.

In actual fact they can come with Lanterns, Globes as well as Shades of course but the principle is usually the same in that you have a single length of chain or rod hanging down with a power either wrapped around the chain or going through it in some cases, or a rod with the Power wire encased in the rod.

Pendant Track Lighting is great to use for your Outdoor Lighting. As with as all Track Lighting Fixtures they work by way of a track which is installed on the ceiling. Then, you will have either a single pendant, or two, three or even more lights hanging down.

Below are some more members of the Outdoor Pendant Lighting Family

A very old and dated example of Outdoor Pendant Lighting is photographed below. This Vintage Model depicts very well how very basic, almost bland looking these types of fixtures were in days gone by. In saying that like a lot of period Lighting Fixtures they hold a certain charm and quaintness which I think you will agree is very appealing and In some ways priceless to a degree:-).

As mentioned previously the heads for these fixtures come in many different styles, shape and colours, but the ones I like best are those with multi-coloured shades made of glass.Alabaster are also delightful but genuine alabaster can be quite expensive so I would recommend that you opt for the glass shade versions if you can.

Porch Lighting.. If space is limited and you are say thinking of locating your fixture(s) in the porch are of your home I would recommend that you go for a nice Lantern Style Fixture and have two matching Wall Lanterns placed either side of your front door.

Outdoor House Lighting Layouts such as this are aesthetically very pleasing and will not be too costly and will do an excellent job of illuminating your home exterior.

In the final photographed below is another nice example of this category of lighting. This one would go excellently I feel under a porchway accompanied by a lovely pair of matching Wall Lamps.

Light Bulb Types To Use?

Light bulbs and the best ones to use? Most Indoor and Outdoor Pendant Lighting fixtures will be built to accommodate a variety of Light Bulbs from your basic Incandescent Bulbs to Ultra-Modern Led Light Bulbs. Incandescent Bulbs are slowly being replaced with Low Energy bulbs such as Compact Fluorescent (CFL`s).

Where Light Bulbs are concerned though my advice would be to try to work things in reverse order. Find out from one of your local Outdoor Lighting Stores what types of Light Bulb the fixture you are interested in will take so that there can be no surprises when you have made your purchase only to find out it will only take a certain bulb or bulbs.

Choosing Light Bulbs might seem complicated but it is not too difficult a task once you compare the different ones on the market, what they do, how long they can last, and their comparative costs.

Once again when it comes to making that final choice simply let your creative juices flow and let the interior designer in you reveal himself and I am sure that you will have an Home Lighting Layout to be proud of.. both Indoors and Outdoors :-)
