For a fraction of the cost of the equivalent original Antique Lighting Fixture one can get a beautifully designed replica with similar quaint appeal and charm.

Added to this is the fact that there is a wider variety to choose from because genuine Antique Lighting Fixtures are one-offs whereas Repros can, and are, manufactured in huge amounts.

I saw a beautiful, genuine, Antique Outdoor Wall Lantern recently. It was stunningly beautiful and cost from memory around $700. A reproduction model of the same Lighting Fixture would have cost less than a quarter of the price of the genuine one so I am sure this will have a strong bearing on whether you go for the repro version or not.

One advantage that Antique Reproduction Lighting Fixtures have over genuine models is that with the repro ones they will usually be made for use outdoors and depending on the country you live in should be made to a certain standard.

Not to say that original Outdoor Lighting was not specifically made for the outdoors but it`s just that in the modern era the standards that have to be met are far higher which can only be a good thing.

A beautiful Brass Outdoor Antique Wall Lantern has to take some beating in my opinion. If you see one for a good price I would snap it up if I was you.

One thing to be careful of with any Antique Lighting that you purchase is that all of the Antique Lighting Parts are in reasonable working order. Try to get this in writing from the vendor if you can. Some good ones will not only put it in writing but will give you a guarantee of some sort which is always a good sign.

In the final photo below is a nice Vintage Pendant Light. As you can see its charm and appeal is in its weather beaten age. Of course this model could be polished up professionally to look more up to date but a Reproduction version would probably be the easier option if one was overly concerned with aesthetics.

The connoisseurs out there will much prefer Original Antique Lighting. Reproduction versions are excellent if you just love the style and are happy and willing to forego the originality factor. By going down the Reproduction route you will have a far wider choice to choose from, stockists will be closer at hand and the prices will be far more attractive too:-).
