low voltage lighting fixtures such as low voltage deck lighting, low voltage track lighting and low voltage landscape lighting fixtures are very safe forms of lighting. They come in both the indoor and outdoor variety and there are a variety of designs and price ranges in this particular excellent lighting category.

This applies to both low voltage outdoor lighting and low voltage indoor lighting. There is also a 24 volt model but the 12 volt version is the one I would recommend when it comes to low voltage lighting fixtures.

Safety First! The only possibility of danger is where the 120 volt current leads (power lead) runs up to and feeds into the transformer so where this is concerned you need to take as much care as you normally would where mains electricity is located. Low-Voltage-Landscape-Lighting will add beauty and safety as well as security to any home exterior. As with all low voltage lighting this model is a breeze to install and comes in many designs and sizes in its own right.

It can be used to highlight a garden wall, a house wall, anywhere in fact where your artistic license dares to take you. There is no doubt that low voltage lighting fixtures of the outdoor variety have many good thing going for them but the safety element in my opinion must be the number one advantage. They are very easy to set up and install and will save you money over traditional outdoor lighting run off the mains.

Indoor lighting by its very nature probably needs to be even safer to use and be around than outdoor lighting. This applies to low voltage lighting and standard lighting that is run of the mains. The reason for this is that we spend most of our time indoors and accidents indoors are commonplace I am sad to report

As with the outdoor version low voltage indoor lighting works in unison with a transformer which reduces the 120 volts mains electricity down to 12 volts. The voltage that it gets reduced down to can vary but 12 volts is generally recognized as being the safest voltage and is the most popular.

There are a few models that come under low voltage indoor lighting some of which I have listed below but I would recommend whichever model or models that you choose that you use led light bulbs with them.

Low voltage pendant lighting are excellent when used for example as kitchen island lighting. With some models the transformers are in the ceiling canopy so are out of sight.

Some models are on the market which have a “rise and fall” mechanism. This allows you to raise and lower the lighting fixture as and when required. This is very handy where kitchen island lighting is concerned.

If you are making food for example you might want to shed plenty of light on the subject matter and you can do so by simply lowering your lighting fixture to the desired height. How cool is that :-).

Low voltage under cabinet lighting is perfect for illuminating kitchen worktops at night helping you to undertake your kitchen based activities in safety.

If you can, install a dimmable model so that you can adjust the light level to suit the mood. High level lighting for working in the kitchen and low levels for a more relaxing mood.

Dimmers are recommend wherever you can install and use them as they save money on your energy bill which is excellent news:-). Low voltage led lighting comes highly recommended when it comes to your kitchen lighting ideas as over time having them installed will also reduce your running costs.

Low voltage track lighting is particularly good where ceiling height is restricted. This type of lighting fixture sits fairly close to the ceiling and the heads containing the lamps are usually adjustable so that you can direct the light beam wherever you wish which is very handy indeed.

The tracks themselves come in varying lengths and you can usually replace the heads with different models but it will depend on the low voltage track lighting model that you choose so do remember to check with your lighting retailer if the heads can be replaced with different ones before purchasing.

Low voltage cable lighting is a very unique kind of lighting fixture in that it gives off the appearance as if it were floating in mid air. This occurs because of the cables being so thin. They are great for unusual shaped rooms and can be installed in ceilings or walls such is their diversity. The heads or spot lights can be fixed or adjustable

Like a lot of lighting fixtures they come in the outdoor version as well as the indoor one. Interior designers love this type of lighting because of its uniqueness and also because it is so flexible

Ensure that the total bulb wattage of your light bulbs does`nt exceed your transformers maximum threshold. Remember, by using low energy bulbs such as led`s you will have equivalent light power for lower wattage.
Dimmable? When purchasing your low voltage lighting fixtures lighting fixtures and light bulbs, do enquire as to whether they are compatible with a dimmer. Not all lighting fixture are compatible and not all light bulbs are unfortunately.

Low voltage lighting fixtures has many good things going for it including of course the fact that it is very safe to use. The fact that it comes in both the indoor variety and also the outdoor variety makes it very popular.
