Led Deck Lighting, For Safety and Security Outdoor Led Lighting takes some beating.

Led Deck Lighting such as solar led lighting is great for giving your garden and home exterior that “Wow Factor” and can make your home a secure and safer place. Solar led lighting is my favorite by far. Do you have a favorite?

Led Deck Lighting comes in a variety of forms but the first one that springs to mind when I think of this type of lighting fixture is recessed led lighting.

Recessed deck lighting these days comes in easy-to-fit kit-form and the options regarding choices of designs is also very varied, but circular shaped fixtures are the most common and in my opinion the best looking too:-).

Most decking areas have steps so a good idea is to place one or two recessed stair lighting fixtures in each step. Regular visitors of this website will know that I am a great lover and advocate of solar powered lighting, in all forms, so my first tip would be to go for recessed solar led lighting.

Pictured below is a very tasteful example of led deck lighting installed into the steps of the decking of a great looking house. As you can see they add a certain subtle style and ambience to the decking area and make it safer too.

The above led deck lighting looks really cute I think you will agree. Of course the led stair lighting in the picture above won`t completely illuminate the decking area but they are there to add safety to the immediate area surrounding the steps and also to add subtle illumination that is pleasing to the eye which I hope you will agree is achieved quite nicely.

The key to all outdoor lighting (except for fixtures such as flood lighting of course) is to try to achieve the happy medium of adding a security and safety element to your home whilst at the same time not making your garden and exterior too over-bearing in the way of over-bright illuminations that your neighbours might get annoyed by.

Below is a handy guide to how many led deck lights you might consider installing. Please bear in mind it is only a general guide but will I hope help you to achieve that “Wow Factor” for your outdoor lighting set-up.

The “Every Metre” Rule For every metre-width of decking install one (or maximum of two) led deck lights. Solar powered ones are recommended as mentioned previously.

Deck-Posts If you have deck posts, which most decks do, the same principle applies but the chances are the posts will be spaced further apart than one metre, so a good tip is install a solar powered deck-post light in each post.

Disguised Led Garden Lighting This I know you are really going to love:-). In the second photo below you will see a delightful duck made of resin. The light is actually an led solar powered light. The decking area would be an excellent spot I think you will agree for this Led Deck.. or should I say “Duck” Lighting:-).

Solar Powered Lighting

As you know solar lighting works by way of electricity which is soaked up during the day by solar panels attached to the fixture itself. They are virtually zero cost to run, very simple to install, and there are no fiddly wires to worry about so they can be installed basically anywhere you so desire.

As in the photograph above solar powered lighting is portable and therefore can be used indoors as well as outdoors.

Led Deck Lighting Layout

Generally deck lighting led fixtures are best when they are spaced equal distances apart but if you remember to stick by the “one fixture for every meter of decking” rule you won`t go far wrong. Add one light fixture to every deck-post as mentioned earlier too and I am sure that you will have a decking lighting layout to be really proud of.

In the third and final photo below you will see a dummy rock with disguised solar led lighting. If you look closely you can see the solar panel which soaks up the suns rays by day. Fantastic for the environment and holds great novelty value tooJ.

For everything other than solar powered lighting I would highly recommend that you have a qualified electrician install your led deck lighting.

Most of this type of lighting is low voltage so it is less dangerous than traditional lighting fixtures but if you do wish to undertake the task of installing the fixtures yourself your lighting store will be able to supply you with detailed instructions on how to go about this and it will usually come in the box with the fixtures when you buy them.

Why Choose Led Solar Deck Lighting?

  • No Wiring and Completely Portable
  • Robust and Maintenance Free
  • Switch Themselves On Automatically at Night and Off in the Morning
  • Extremely Kind to the Environment
  • Weatherproofed

Whichever lighting fixtures you choose I wish you the very best with your home lighting layout. Remember.. if you allow the interior designer in you to come out I am sure you will be delighted with the end result and you will have a deck lighting layout to be proud of for many years to come:-).
