Kitchen Lighting Ideas and Kitchen Lighting Tips for the Heart of your Home.

Kitchen Lighting Ideas relating to products such as kitchen pendant lighting, kitchen cabinet lighting to kitchen track lighting and modern lighting fixtures, our kitchen lighting tips can help you to design one of the most important rooms in your beautiful home.

Kitchen Pendant Lighting - is a very popular form of home lighting and is used extensively today in the modern home. Pendant lighting is a lighting fixture that hangs from the ceiling from a rod or a chain. They come with single or multiple shades or bowls which can be made of materials such as glass, steel, plastic, alabaster and other materials. They are most commonly used as kitchen island pendant lighting

Kitchen Lighting Ideas - They are an excellent form of task lighting and are particularly good for kitchens because they shed adequate light where it is most needed whilst looking aesthetically pleasing at the same time. Pendant lighting in all forms are one of my favourite types of lighting because they come in such an array of different designs and styles and they look so attractive. I hope you like them too.Stylish and Beautiful

Kitchen lighting ideas - Something like the very stylish and beautiful example depicted below would grace any kitchen of any home. The neutral colours would help blend in with many decors. Very pretty I think you will agree and ultra-modern:-).

Dimmer Switches

Dimmer switches - are a must when it comes to kitchen lighting ideas. Most modern forms of lighting are compatible with dimmers and they are absolutely ideal for changing the ambience in a room at the twist of a wheel. Dimmers are a great way also of conserving energy as your lighting won`t be fixed at full power when you use one of these. Simply adjust up or down to suit the mood or occasion. They come highly recommended.

Plan Ahead

Planning ahead - is a very good idea when it comes to working out your kitchen lighting design. The safety element must be considered along with how gorgeous your kitchen lighting layout will look, so take your time over planning and I am sure that you will have a kitchen lighting set-up to die for:-).

In the photograph below you will see a very well thought out and laid out kitchen lighting plan.

Kitchen Lighting Plan

The Kitchen is The Heart of the Home

Kitchen lighting ideas - The kitchen of today has gone beyond the days when they were used merely for cooking food in. Nowadays the kitchen a place where we do a host of things (some of them whilst we eat and drink:-) such as reading, listening to music, working and other activities.

Generally, the kitchen of today is a place where families spend valuable time together in between going about their busy lives so therefore when it comes to kitchen lighting ideas the kitchen lighting fixtures need to be carefully planned to take all of this into consideration.

If there is one place in the home where safety is paramount it has to be the kitchen. Your kitchen should not only be adequately lit but the light should be directed in the right spots or areas.

The oven is the obvious place because if you are cooking during the evening it is vital that your cooking area is well lit to guard against any accidents or mishaps. This applies many times over if you have children of course as kids as we know can be unpredictable at the best of times so great care must be taken at all times especially if you have children.

Kitchens Can Spell Danger!

According to the US Home Safety Council over 50,000 people are hospitalised each year in the United States alone and over 5,000 people die from injuries that are burn related. Cooking is one of the most dangerous activities there is which is proven by the sobering figures above. This is why it is absolutely essential for kitchens to be adequately illuminated to suit the occasion

Kitchen Cabinet Lighting

Kitchen Cabinet Lighting - and Recessed Ceiling Lighting are excellent choices. In the delightful photograph below see how it only takes a few of these lighting fixtures to make your kitchen look really cool . Under cabinet lighting, as seen in the photo, is another absolute must I would say when it comes to your kitchen lighting design and comes highly recommended.

Kitchen Track Lighting

This is another type of lighting fixture that I very much like when it comes tokitchen lighting ideas, simply because it is so adaptable and useful. As the name suggests this type of fixture comes mounted on a track and comes in varying sizes. In the photograph below is a nice example of a small kitchen track lighting fixture.

Kitchen Cabinet Lighting

If you have a small kitchen like the one pictured above small kitchen track lighting is the best option because the heads are directional which means you can point them where you wish, which is what I love most about them:-).

Clearly much will depend on the size of your kitchen along with its shape but by drawing up a plan similar to the one above you will be able to get an overview of how many kitchen lighting fixtures you will need and you will be able to act accordingly.

Below are the three most important categories of lighting that will help you as you begin your kitchen lighting design plan.

Ambient Lighting

General Lighting usually the main source such as pendant lighting, or ceiling fixture such as a chandelier.

Task Lighting

For example track lighting that you use to illuminate important areas of your kitchen such as the oven, sink, or worktop so that you can undertake you kitchen based tasks safely and in adequate light.

Accent LightingIs used to bring attention and highlight areas of the kitchen that you want to draw attention to in a subtle way such as a family portrait, a painting, anything in fact that you want to focus on and accentuate.
