Closet Lighting, Subtle lighting, for where space is limited.

Where Closet lighting is concerned, Modern Track Lighting is a very good choice as it is perfectly shaped and comes in many styles and colour finishes.

It has greatly improved over recent years, in the not too distant past folk would usually make do with something such as a floor lamp or even a table lamp, but of late, mini lighting, pot lighting, even wardrobe lighting are often used for ones closet room lighting so there are plenty of fixtures to choose from.

If you are fortunate enough to have a large closet, of the type you can walk in to, then ideally you will have at least one lighting fixture on the ceiling and at least one maybe two wall lamps.

There are no hard and fast rules regarding just how many lights you should have depending for instance on whether you have a mirror in your closet, then, if you do, one wall lamp either side of your mirror would work very well that match a ceiling light.

Some people rig-up their lighting so that when the closet door is opened the light switches on automatically. These are fine so long as you remember to close the door when you go out of the room. Getting into this habit will not only save you money but will prolong the life of your bulbs.

Track Lighting Fixtures are a good choice where Closet Lighting is concerned but whatever you choose I would advise that you go for fluorescent bulbs as opposed to Incandescent.

Fluorescents bulbs use much less energy and actually work out cheaper over time so if you can always purchase fluorescents.

By their very nature closets tend to be usually quite dark places, as they usually don`t have windows. It is for this reason that spot lighting usually works very well. When choosing where to situate your lighting please bear in mind the safety element.

By this I mean to ensure that your lighting fixture is`nt too close to cupboards, or clothing, or anything in fact that might be flammable as closets tend also to be quite cramped. Try to make it so your fixtures are at least two feet from the nearest flammable object.

If you stick to the “two foot rule” you can`t really go wrong and your home will be a much safer place for yourself and your family.

When working out your recessed lighting layout (should you decide to opt for this type of fixture) to use as closet lighting, make sure that your fixtures are evenly spaced apart.

If for example you have a mirrored wardrobe, two nice recessed lights either side of your wardrobe can look really good and can add a nice balance to your closet and will look generally atractive to the eye.

The main thing to bear in mind though is that your closet has a sufficient amount of light as under lit closets are a very common mistake when it comes to home lighting design.
