Bedroom Ceiling Lighting Not so long ago a single,solitary, central ceiling light, would usually have been the sole source of light to illuminate the room but in modern homes, bedroom ceiling lighting consists of ceiling fan lights, recessed ceiling lighting, spot lights and others like flush mount chandeliers. Photographed below is a charming lamp lighting ceiling fan along with a nice bedside table lamp. Ceiling fan lights such as this are very common and popular in warm countries and as you can see the white color finish of the fixture blends in beautifully with the very tasteful décor of the room. Flush mount ceiling lighting is recommended where you have a bedroom ceiling which is low, say below 8 ft. A nice flush mount chandelier in varying styles, designs and finishes can be found at a very reasonable price. A lovely crystal chandelier in gold or chrome finish look really beautiful in such a setting as the bedroom and by adding 4 recessed lights in matching finish (gold or chrome) to the mix, would be the icing on the cake. Recessed Ceiling Lighting Recessed ceiling lighting is a very modern form of lighting which looks particularly great in bedrooms but also goes perfectly well in kitchens too. Set into the ceiling, they are excellent where one has a low ceiling similar to flush mount chandeliers as mentioned in the previous paragraph. To work out your recessed lighting layout the following guide will help you decide on how many recessed lights you will require based on the size of the bedroom and the “ambience” and mood setting you want to achieve. 4” diameter fixtures = spaced at 3ft intervals 6” diameter fixtures = spaced at 4ft intervals 8” fixtures = spaced at 5ft intervals The above is only a general guide but is a good starting point. Your eye is the best judge when it comes to deciding on your final recessed lighting placement and it is always wise if you can to get a second opinion, as two heads are better than one.. as the saying goes:-). When deciding on the type of lighting fixtures you will want to purchase the first thing to look at is the size of your bedroom. For a medium sized room, say 10 ft x 10ft a nice central modern pendant light with 4 recessed ceiling lights should suffice. If you are a couple who like to read in bed (as lots of people do) a pair of charming bedside table lamps would also work well. Suspended ceiling lighting as seen in the delightful ceiling pendant lighting photo below will do a fairly good job of illuminating a medium sized bedroom but you will still probably need to add some more lighting fixtures to the mix, such as a lovely track lighting fixture and also one or two wall sconces. Modern track lighting is great to use where you want to shed light on an object in your bedroom such as a nice portrait, painting, or statue. It will achieve this task for you very well.Modern track lighting comes in many forms for instance flexible track lighting (aka flex track lighting), curved track lighting (as pictured below), cable track lighting, etc. Pendant Track Lighting Pendant track lighting is one fixture I am very fond of. As with most track lighting, it works by way of a track which is fitted to the ceiling and pendant lights in multiples of one, two, three or more, are suspended down from the track. The “Head” of the fixture can sometimes be adjustable so that you can aim or direct the light beam to an area or object of your choosing. These are particularly good if like me you tend to change your room around quite a bit:-). Curved Track Lighting In the final photograph below see how “funky” curved track lighting is used in a bedroom as bedroom ceiling lighting. The heads are adjustable/directional so can be aimed at any area of the room. This is one of the most adaptable lighting fixtures on the market I feel. Every home should have at least one.
