Xenon Light Bulbs and their "Natural Light" attributes are a great choice for your home.

Xenon Light Bulbs were once only found in such devices as car headlamps or movie projectors but in these modern times they can readily be found around the home in many locations. Below is a list of where they can be found:-

  • Bookcase Lighting
  • Picture Lighting
  • Desk Lamps

and more..

Points To Remember

When deciding on whether to replace your current bulbs with another type of bulb the things to look for are the following:

  • Is the Wattage and Voltage the same?
  • Does it have an identical Base i.e. Wedge? Bipin?
  • Is the Glass the same size?

If the answer is yes to all of the above questions then you should be ok to switch the old bulb with your new chosen replacement.

To be 100% safe though, it is best to unscrew one of your old bulbs and show it to your bulb retailer just to be certain that it is defintely a good, allround match.

As usual though please ensure that the bulb has cooled down thoroughly before unscrewing it, as with any light bulb.

Following are some facts about Xenon-Light-Bulbs:

The name "Xenon" comes from the gas that is inserted into the bulb to make it glow.

Xenon lamps (light bulbs) were invented in in the 1940`s in Germany and introduced by Osram.Osram is now one of the largest lighting manufacturers in the world and employs over 30,000 people.

The lifespan of an average Xenon Light Bulb is between 6,000 - 20,000 hours.

They are also known as the following:-

  • Xenon Lamp
  • Xenon Replacement
  • Xenon Lights
  • Xenon Light Source
  • One of the major plus points about Xenon Light Bulbs is that the actual light they give off is said to be as close to natural daylight as a bulb can get. Another advantage Xenons have over say Halogen Light bulbs is that they operate under much cooler temperatures which in effect makes them less dangerous than Halogens.

Energy Efficient Light Bulbs such as the Xenon are a popular choice but once again their fairly hefty cost needs to be weighed up against other similarly priced bulbs like the Halogen.

If in any doubt about whether or not you should buy a particular light bulb, please consult your lighting retailer as they will be able to offer you the best advice being experts in their field.

    Happy Lightbulbing!
