Another name or “term” for a fixture in the same family is the “Top Hat”. The purpose of the Top Hat is to shield glare and direct light from the audience`s eyes. It is shaped like a Top Hat (hence the name) and has a hole in the top for the light to pass through shielding any glint or glare from the eyes of the audience, so as to enhance their viewing experience. Stanley McCandless was a great innovator where Theatrical Lighting is concerned and showed great interest and a love for anything artistic in nature related to the theatre and stage. McCandless designed house lights for the Centre Theatre in New York`s Radio City and was seen to be a great pioneer in the field of Theatrical Lighting Fixtures. Theater Lighting
