Outdoor Gas Lighting, Quaint and Old Fashioned, Top Tips and where the Best Buys are

Outdoor Gas Lighting is very appealing in a "Quaint Old Fashioned" sort of way and they have become commonplace when used as Outdoor Lighting. The gas light has been around for many years and has stood the test of time. Victorian gas lights from the reign of Queen Victoria were considered a technological breakthrough in their day and these days they can be found as gas garden lights, gas wall lights, gas lamps and gas lanterns.

Copper, by far is the most hardy and durable of finishes to be used. It can last through virtually all weathers and is about as maintenance free a fixture as one could get when it comes to Outdoor Gas Lighting.

Brass is also another very durable fixture but with both of these finishes they can be costly. But when you consider, they can last for season-after-season, their longevity will usually outweigh their cost and they are a good investment.

Gas Lanterns (as seen in the photo below) look really great when they are hung on the porch area of the home. Ideally you would hang one either side of the entrance door of your home.

Some people prefer to hang them quite high in relation to their door, about 1.75 meters high, but a better height is about 1.5 meters high so that they are roughly at eye-level when one approaches the door.

Outdoor Gas Lighting like many other fixtures come in a wide variety of shapes and styles but the familier Lantern Style takes a lot of beating and I would definitely recommend this particular style.

Outdoor Tree Lighting (for example) is not very suitable to use as this type of fixture because of the safety aspect but there are not many locations outside your home where it is`nt suitable.

The use of gas powered implements has shown a marked increase in recent years. With the popularity of barbecues we have seen the rise of things such as Outdoor Gas Cooking so gas is not just used for powering lighting but for many things.

Some other types in the range:-

  • Outdoor Gas Lamp Post Lighting
  • Outdoor Gas Wall Lighting
  • Outdoor Gas Landscape Lighting

As mentioned above one really excellent aspect of this category of lighting is that it has a certain old fashioned and quaint appeal to it. On a cold dark evening there is nothing nicer as you approach your house than seeing a Gas lantern flickering away illuminating your home.
