Modern-Lighting, when chosen correctly, can save you money as well as "Illuminate your home." Some handy Tips and Advice follow..

Modern-Lighting should not only be aesthetically pleasing but ideally it must also be functional, whilst achieving the right ambience and correct level of light for your home. Below is a Handy Guide to show how best you can use Modern-Lighting, to enhance your home, it`s decor, and to make your living experience much more pleasurable for you and your family, "for which you so richly deserve."

The Living Room

Today`s Home-Lighting is used for a multitude of purposes. From watching television to hosting parties, to family "get-togethers" and the list goes on.. Therefore a diverse selection of Modern-Lighting Fixtures are required. The perfect starting point, and focal point, has to be the Ceiling-Fixture and for this we would highly recommend a delightful..

** Crystal-Chandelier **

Ideally you will locate your Chandelier in the center of the living room. A "Beautiful Crystal-Chandelier," is definitely the way to go. When your chandelier is turned on the sparkle from the crystals will bring an enchanting "glow" to your living room. No other fixture is capable of achieving this so well and is a must when it comes to lighting needs.

** Wall-Lights **

We recommend that you install four Wall-Lights in your living room, (also known as Wall-Sconces). Place one either side of your living room`s fireplace, alcove, or similar focal point of the main facing wall.

Wall-Lights are a great way of adding balance to your room and will illuminate and highlight areas of your living room`s decor to excellent effect. Install the two remaining Wall-Lights on the facing wall opposite to where the fireplace/alcove is located to complete the balance. Make sure all four are a good match and that they compliment your Ceiling-Fixture too. This type of fixture is an important component of Modern-Lighting.

** Table-Lamps **

Are one of the most versatile lighting additions for the modern home and Modern-Lighting. Why?.. Because they can be moved from room-to-room, they come in a huge range of styles, shapes and finishes, they are suitable for, relaxing by, undertaking tasks, reading, and so on. Place one on your living room table, on your coffee table.. anywhere where the fancy takes you as they are extremely adaptable.

** Floor-Lamps **

Come in various Designs and Styles. Chrome or Silver floor lamps are the modern choice but many people still go for the more traditional styles such as Stained Glass for example. They are a great choice for Modern-Lighting in the home.

Brass or Bronze fixtures work very well in most homes but tend to be a tad formal for some people`s liking so the safer bet seems to be Silver or Chrome.

Goosenecked fixtures are ultra-modern and work best in areas such as Studies as well as Living-Rooms.

For sheer elegance though the choice has to be "Torchiere." Upright, tall and slim Torchieres are a very popular choice when it comes to choosing ones Floor-Lamps.

Overall, Floor Lamps are excellent for rooms where there is poor lighting for one reason or another, or, where there is no ceiling lighting at all which in some instances is the case.

The Hallway

The Hallway, where Modern-lighting is concerned, is a place where generally "We walk through to get from one room to another!" Bearing in mind there is usually a stairway situated in the hallway please ensure that you have an adequate level of light in your hallway. Stairways can be a hazardous place so please bear this in mind and ensure that this area of your home is illuminated adequately.

The trend in the modern home is to install..

** Uplighters **

Position them at intervals, rising up the stairs and..

** Wall-Sconces **

On your hallway wall or walls. A nice..

** Ceiling-Pendant **

Also works very well but remember to ensure that your fixtures are a good match and compliment each other with regard to their style and finish as with all lighting fixtures that you purchase for your home.

The Kitchen

** Track-Lighting **

Is very popular in the kitchen of the modern home.

Directional lighting such as..

** Spotlights **

Are ideal too for the kitchen area but the kitchen is another room where the correct amount of lighting is absolutely essential.

** Recessed-lighting **

Is also popular as it is not too over bearing and can be picked up at quite reasonable cost.

** Under-Cabinet-Lighting **

Is another fixture with a sole purpose. This one being that it illuminates your kitchen`s worktop area in a subtle way without the fixture itself being on show. Thus enabling you to carry out your cooking and preparation in a safe environment.

The Bedroom

The first thing to consider bearing in mind that people often like to read in bed, whether it be a newspaper, magazine or a good book is whether to purchase one or more bedside..

** Table-Lamps **

The on-off switch is more closer at hand on this type of luminaire and if you fall off to sleep you need only stretch out an arm and the task is done for the evening. Your bedroom is another room in the house where a..

** Dimmer-Switch **

Comes in very handy as it is an excellent mood-enhancing, labor-saving device, just when you really need it most:-).

The Children`s Bedroom

Clearly, great care must be taken when considering Modern-lighting for your children`s bedroom. Safety is the "all-important-key" when it comes to anything relating to children not just their bedrooms.

The children`s bedroom is another area where a dimmer-switch would be highly suited. Do not use any type of free standing lamp or any fixture that can be in reach of your child or can be Hazardous. Candles of course are a definite NO when it comes to children`s bedrooms unless your child is accompanied by a parent or an adult.

If in doubt limit your child`s bedroom to a single ceiling-fixture with 2- 3 bulbs maximum. As mentioned Safety is paramount when it comes to children.

The Bathroom

Modern-Lighting, where the bathroom is concerned, has its limitations, depending on the size of the bathroom, but the first thing to ensure is that your lighting is sufficient enough to enable you to groom yourself (to shave or apply make up etc) and for this we would recommend..

** Vanity-lighting **

** Spotlights **

Are both an excellent choice. The area around your bathroom mirror is one area of the room where adequate lighting needs to flow. Vanity-Lighting is made for this but you might consider an all in one mirror-light which are another popular choice in todays modern home.

All in all there are literally hundreds, if not thousands ff different styles, shapes and size variations of Modern-lighting.If you are re-decorating your home choose your lighting carefullyand ensure that your fixtures and your homes decor, furniture, and accessories, work well and compliment each other and your home will be a home to cherish.
